I was in a retreat over the weekend and they did the chaplet. It has probably been 10/15 years since I have heard the classics like “for the sake” and “have mercy on us”.
Anyway, I’m in my own head, listening to the decades and all of a sudden, “Holy God” starts to get sung. I had a huge flashback and started cracking up with this. When we were kids, mom would do the rosary and chaplet at 3pm every day. This was also mom’s nap time. So right after the rosary, we’d start the chaplet, the melody would put mom to sleep, and Pete and I would start singing, “HOLYYYYYY GODDDDDD” . She would instinctively start singing it too.
I can’t remember if we ever got away with one so that we could get outside and play… but again, I’m cracking up in church thinking how funny that was.
