Week 7 Summary

What a week. Ben called me Thursday morning because he had a ticket on his car in DC. It said, “Failure to Report for Inspection.” However, his car is registered in NY state. His NYS inspection was expired, he was confused about what to do, since he isn’t able to get a NYS Inspection in DC. So he and I talked on the phone for a while as we did some research. We came up with a plan, but threw that plan out and I just traded cars with him. He and Eliza have my car, and I took care of his inspection.
While Ben and I were talking, I could hear Eliza and the other missionaries talking in the background. (Thursday morning is when the four FOCUS missionaries meet as a team in Ben and Eliza’s apartment.) I could hear Eliza talking about having contractions. She wasn’t overly worked up about it, but I heard her mention she thought it could be early labor. I asked Ben about it, but he hadn’t really spoken to her directly about it. As the day went on, I was texting Ben asking if they had contacted their doctor (lots of texts). No reply. A few hours later, at about 4:20 pm, he texted that they were at the doctor and were being sent over to the hospital. We asked everyone to pray. Thank you for your prayers! Ben checked in a couple of times via text with the last one at 6:45 saying Eliza was getting ready to push, then radio silence. We waited and prayed. At 9:33 pm I had an incoming call from Eliza’s phone! I figured she was pretty busy, so I expected Ben’s voice. He shared that he had a daughter! Lucy Kaitlyn was born at 8:19 pm. He said she was doing great! We all cried and celebrated. God is good. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I am so glad we were able to be there Friday. Holding her and talking to her and smelling her and loving her was pure magic. I can’t wait to see her again. Seeing my son be a father…no words. It brings my heart so much joy. Seeing Ben and Eliza together loving this baby and loving each other…miraculous.

Also, I read the bible.
