week 10
Feeling some divine intervention that we waited till today to post week 10! Our homily today spoke to us about our mission, should we chose to follow God.
“It is hard to live a moral life in an immoral world”
“The path with God is hard, but it’s not all Good Friday’s…it’s all Easter Sunday’s”
The path we must follow in this life to get to God is hard. It involves growth and growing pains. Our natural aversion to pain can tempt us to avoid growth, and question the path. It is faith- in God’s love for us and the principles He has given that we must rely upon to get through.
Moses and the Israelites Exodus from Egypt… we are deep within the 40 year struggle. As is a reoccurring theme many question God. However this time there is more- without questioning the miracle of manna- Many state their boredom with it… like children at the dinner table ughhhh, manna again? The miracle that has become routine is no longer a cause for faith, but a problem with it. They have miracle food- but are tired of it. They have blurred the big picture- huge loss of perspective.
Jesus explaining to Peter that he will eventually suffer, and die with Peter’s inability to comprehend/refusal to accept. It’s clear Peter believes Christ is the Messiah, but can not grasp what Christ tells him. How can we win- when you suffer and die? He needs to have faith.
Where do we see both examples today? We think it’s easy to point to those ignoring the miracle of life… Seeing/hearing/feeling anger and hatred pushed at those of faith for their beliefs. Being called backwards and archaic or hypocrites for supporting pro life measures or any support for recent heartbeat bills.
Perspective is a difficult thing to comprehend. We are of this earth- made of dirt/clay. However we are made in a divine image. We have His breath in us- said another way, our soul, our free will. That doesn’t mean we have perfect sight or the ability to bypass the gift of faith.
